From preparation to completion
Loads, wall construction and available bearings determine the lintel design. Inner and outer leaves of an external wall may require different solutions. When replacing a lintel, assess the reason for damage as well: replacing the visible member alone does not address an underlying movement or deterioration problem. Include temporary support, installation, waste removal and repairs when comparing quotations.

What affects the price?
Loads, span, support, access and finishes determine the work. A price for steel alone is not a price for the complete opening. Share your drawings and desired result so the quotation can identify included work, provisional items and exclusions.

Can an old lintel remain when an opening is widened?
Only if the engineer considers it suitable. The larger span and changed bearings need reassessment.
