From preparation to completion
The size of a doorway says little about the load above it. A load-bearing wall needs a designed support solution. Also consider the door swing, clear width, skirting and floor levels. The rough opening differs from the finished passage once the frame is fitted. Widening an existing doorway requires reassessment of the lintel and bearings.

What affects the price?
Loads, span, support, access and finishes determine the work. A price for steel alone is not a price for the complete opening. Share your drawings and desired result so the quotation can identify included work, provisional items and exclusions.

Can an existing doorway be widened?
It may be possible, but the existing lintel and bearings must be assessed for the larger opening.
