Gather component information
Collect calculations, drawings and material data. Describe the component’s role, location, finish and installation. For existing steel, include previous alterations and actual condition. Photographs support the discussion but do not replace every technical detail.
Agree on design and records
The weld is part of the load-bearing system, so its dimensions are not an arbitrary site choice. The specialists select a method suited to material, design and conditions. Ask who develops details, checks the work and supplies relevant records. Changes discovered during fabrication or installation must be assessed and reflected in final documents.
