Partial load-bearing wall removal

A wide opening with wall sections on either side can create the connection you want. Partial removal also needs structural preparation.

From preparation to completion

Remaining wall piers may support a new beam, but their suitability depends on material, dimensions, loads and the structure below. Leaving a narrow strip of wall does not automatically make the change straightforward. Discuss the clear opening after cladding and finishes, along with floor and ceiling junctions. Reinforcing the remaining masonry may matter more to the price than the area demolished.

What we coordinate with you

  • Determine the clear opening
  • Assess the remaining wall sections
  • Review floor and ceiling junctions
  • Include finishing around the opening

What affects the price?

Loads, span, support, access and finishes determine the work. A price for steel alone is not a price for the complete opening. Share your drawings and desired result so the quotation can identify included work, provisional items and exclusions.

Questions about this service

Does partial removal avoid the permit requirement?

Changing a load-bearing structure also requires the relevant Dutch technical building permit when only part of the wall is removed. Check location-specific rules as well.
