Closed steel frame with a lower beam

A closed steel frame includes interconnected members and a lower beam. Its use is calculated for the individual building.

From preparation to completion

The lower member can affect floor construction, service routes and installation. Suitability follows from the complete structural design; it does not guarantee that existing foundations can remain unchanged. Compare possible alternatives before finalising floors and steelwork. Opening and reinstating the floor, as well as access to connections, affect the scope and cost.

What we coordinate with you

  • Discuss structural need and alternatives
  • Assess the floor and underlying structure
  • Detail connections and installation space
  • Include floor reinstatement and services

What affects the price?

Loads, span, support, access and finishes determine the work. A price for steel alone is not a price for the complete opening. Share your drawings and desired result so the quotation can identify included work, provisional items and exclusions.

Questions about this service

Can this frame always avoid new foundations?

No. The engineer must still assess how the loads transfer to the existing ground and foundations.
